ICC Help: simul

Simultaneous matches (where one player plays several games at once) can be played on the ICC. There are two ways to start a simul. This document describes the old way using the simul list. See help simulize for an alternative.

NOTE: Use of computer chess engines and databases while playing in a simul is strictly prohibited. Assistance from other players is also prohibited. For more information, please see help agreement.

It's simple to start a simul. Ask for challenges from all those who you want to play against (see below). For each challenge you receive, add the player to your simul list. e.g. "+simul darooha", "+simul arcsin", etc. Then begin the simul with the players on your list with "startsimul".

Here's a typical seek command the simul player might give: "seek 30 30 u white m f 1-2000"

The simul player can move to a specific game with the "goto" command, as in "goto 3" or "goto arcsin". "goto" with no parameter goes to another game in which it's your move (if there is one). Blitzin will normally automatically take you to the game where you have the least time remaining, among all the games where you're on move.

If you are giving a simul, and get disconnected, you can resume the simul: Log back in, request challenges from all the players that still had games in progress, add them to your simul list, and type "start". It's no different than the procedure for starting a new simul, except the adjourned games will be used, rather than starting new games.

The simul giver can add new games to a simul that has already begun: Players can use the "match" or "resume" commands to offer the game, and the simul giver can add the game with the "accept" command. He does not need to add the person to his simul list if the simul has already started.

Channel 3 is the simul channel. "+ch 3" to get in it.
