Known bugs in ChessViewer
Despite being a relatively simple program, ChessViewer (like all Java
applets) depends on a well-constructed Java Virtual Machine, provided by
your browser. And since there are roughly a dozen different operating systems,
each with a dozen different browsers, the number of different platforms
that ChessViewer should work on is just gross.
Version 2.0
Scrollbars act funny when double-clicked in Win95/Netscape 4
Status: Netscape "feature"? I suspect this is an "Accessability" feature gone awry.
Trouble accessing final moves
Status: Fixed in 2.1.
Version 1.2
Fails on non-Java browsers
Status: Don't expect this to change any time soon.
Missing piece in Adams/Anand game 5, Anand/Karpov Game 2
Status: Fixed (Jan 3, 98). Turns out there was a bug in handling captures with promotion. Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation.
Ragged-looking pieces until a move is made
Status: Cause unknown.
Win95/MS IE 3.01, 3.02 get a "Corrupt cabinet file"
error
Status: "Fixed". Removed all references to CAB file. No idea what the problem was, email me if you are a CAB expert. MSIE users now download the old-fashioned way.
Win95/Netscape 3.x causes ugly stripes when I drag-scroll the chessviewer
off and on the page.
Status: True for all Java applets. No fix.
Mac ?/Netscape 4.03 doesn't redraw board after scrolling to a new
move.
Status: Forwarded bug report to netscape. Expect to see Netscape 4.04.
If you wish to report a bug
not on this list, please include your computer, operating system, and browser
(e.g. Pentium 200, Windows 95, Netscape 3.01Gold). Also include any error messages, possibly written on the Java Console (available via your browser's Options menu).
